Read MoreAs per Article 243-I of the Constitution of India and Section 186 of the Kerala Panchayat Raj Act, 1994, the State Government Constitutes State Finance Commissions to review the financial position of the Panchayats and to recommend the principles which should govern— the distribution between the State and the Panchayats of the net proceeds of the taxes, duties, tolls and fees leviable by the State.
As per Article 243-Y of the Constitution of India and Section 205 of the Kerala Municipality Act, 1994, the State Government Constitutes Sate Finance Commissions to review the financial position of the Municipalities and to recommend the principles which should govern— the distribution between the State and the Municipalities of the net proceeds of the taxes, duties, tolls and fees leviable by the State.
Articles 234-I and 243-Y of the Constitution of India also stipulate that the State Finance Commissions shall study and recommend measures to be taken to strengthen the Local Self Governments.
As per Articles 234-I and 243-Y of the Constitution of India, after approving the recommendations of the State Finance Commission, Action Taken reports have to be submitted to the Legislative Assembly of the State and the same have to be implemented.
